Winter Roberts

Winter Roberts is from New Richmond, Wisconsin. She is majoring in Sports Journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, located at the Downtown Phoenix campus at Arizona State University.
She graduated from New Richmond High School on May 25th, 2018 with a accumulated 3.5 GPA. She was on the honor roll for nearly every semester of high school. She studied Spanish for four years in high school. Her junior year she had the chance to take a trip to Spain through her Spanish program. She took this amazing opportunity to experience the Spanish culture hands on and she really dove right into learning the language when she stayed with a host family who didn’t speak any English. She played basketball in New Richmond for nearly eight years, including all four years in high school. She played for her school and a traveling team. Her senior year she was voted Most Valuable Teammate at the end of her senior year. She also played soccer for two years in high school and got an award for having the best goal of the season. For two summer in a row she was a counselor for a Catholic bible camp. This included organizing a series of activities to teach children about the history about catholicism and the beliefs catholics have. During her junior and senior year of high school she was on her schools broadcast team. During this time she was able to practice many positions including editor, camera, and anchor. At the same time she was on the yearbook committee creating and editing pages that can be found in New Richmond High Schools yearbook. Near the end of her senior year and leading up to college she worked at the Americinn hotel as a front desk receptionist. She was able to work on her communication, planning, and multitasking skills during her time as an employee. Winter applied to three colleges, St Cloud State, North Dakota State University and Arizona State University. She got accepted into all three colleges with scholarships from both St Cloud State and Arizona State. She received the ASU Academic Achievement Scholar scholarship. She also received a scholarship through her high school which was the Retired Educators Scholarship. In the future she hopes to become a sports broadcaster. She wants to be a sideline reporter and interview players and coaches. With her dedication, love for sports, and excellent education provided by the Cronkite school, anything is possible.
